Script Copy: Burger Week Promotional Video

 

The Challenge

NUVO, an independent newspaper in Indianapolis, needed to promote its event, Burger Week. This was a weeklong event promoting a variety of burger restaurants in Indianapolis. I was asked to create a video to share on social media to promote the event.

Made in 2016. NUVO ceased operations in 2020.

The Solution

NUVO’s audience was primarily people in their 20s to early 40s, interested in an alternative local scene. I wrote the script to resonate with a younger audience by using laid-back language, and kept the tone playful.

If I were to remake this project today, I would more prominently place the benefits of buying burgers from local restaurants during this event (saving money and supporting local business). I would also trim it back to no longer than 45 seconds, both by trimming down the script, and by having the actor quicken his pace. This would perform better in the current digital space.
